When the lights dim and the action unfolds for a game-winning play or a family movie night, these moments rely on technology working behind the scenes. With the launch of the NEXSYS System, Legrand / Middle Atlantic introduced a power management platform combining distribution and backup. To reflect this innovation, they needed a new Visual Brand Language. Collaborating with Legrand’s Design team, I was the design lead for creating a design that embodies functionality and reliability.

We started by getting out into the field, conducting interviews with installers, technicians, and end users to understand their everyday challenges (think sports stadiums, educational institutions, corporations, and high-end home automation). Every detail of the NEXSYS System is designed to be intentional, optimizing functionality. Elements like a perforated brick pattern inset add texture while supporting airflow, and ‘The Cove’ ensures the power switch is protected while providing subtle LED lighting for dimly lit spaces. Illuminated indicators offer technicians instant access to critical information, while the slim design and rotated outlets simplify installation.

The design strengthens the Legrand product portfolio and enhances the Middle Atlantic brand while ensuring reliable performance, installation, and use. Whether it’s the roar of the crowd after a game-winning play or the quiet anticipation of family movie night, the NEXSYS System keeps everything running smoothly.
